Chiaki Fujii textile art pieces

Japanese textile artist ChiakiFujii resides in Saitama, Japan, best known for passionate expressions of nature and colors of the world. Her works are processed from handmade dyes through devoted research of minerals and plants. Besides being an independent artist, she currently lectures at her old art university. After acquiring the basics of dyeing in university, Chiaki stepped into the world of fashion design and pattern-making in Tokyo and Paris. She later left her fashion job to deepen knowledge and skills by actively working on artist activities, holding exhibitions in both Germany and Japan. She shows passion and respect for traditional Japanese dyeing techniques in her works, trying to adapt them to pursue her original dyes. All processes of Chiaki’s textiles are done solely by herself. She designs, produces screen prints, uses them with self-made natural dyes to print her unique textiles. Another distinctive trait of each piece are heartfelt delicate stories and messages of words thoughtfully placed which she hopes will keep triggering realizations of the beauty of this world, and wish the textiles to be keepsakes close to our hearts. Such hopes and dreams fill her atelier as she consciously produces her textiles with craftsmanship and love.
